Furthermore, the introduction of reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) and reclaimed asphalt shingles (RAS) into asphalt mixtures has gained momentum in recent years. RAP and RAS are reclaimed materials from old asphalt pavements and shingles, respectively. Integrating these recycled materials into new asphalt mixtures not only reduces the need for virgin resources but also improves the overall sustainability and performance of the pavement.

Innovations like porous asphalt and permeable pavement are making notable contributions to sustainable infrastructure. Porous asphalt allows water to pass through the pavement, reducing runoff and mitigating flooding and water pollution.
